Meet the team

Dan Bleakman

Founder and director

Dan began his career in the early 2000's in London at Next15's Bite Communications. Here he gained huge experience working with big US software comapnies such as Oracle, Siebel, VERITAS and Symantec. In 2007, he moved to Sydney, joining WPP's Howorth Communications, leading campaigns for the likes of SAP, Samsung, Microsoft and Toshiba.

Still at WPP and with an eye of how companies were embracing new ways of marketing, Dan founded, The Factuary in 2015. Much of that time was spent working with Telstra, along with SAP and Rackspace, creating unique points of view aligned to brand and customers.

In 2019, Dan founded Meta Strategy as an independent marketing agency; embracing brand, customer understanding as part of the technology buyer's journey.

ExperienceNearly 25 years' marketing and communications experience, working with many of the world's leading technology organisations.

InterestsDan is an avid sportman. He played rugby for nearly 20 years, reaching representative honours in the UK. He's also a highly active member of the ultra running community and to date has run over 100 ultra marathons. 

Dan is also passionate about education, serving on the board of directors for the Inner Sydney Montessori School for six years.

John Fearn

Senior consultant

Beginning life in the UK in public relations, John provided strategic communications advice and delivered effective public affairs programmes for a range of clients including Virgin Money, the Paragon Group, Veritec, Expedia, TripAdvisor, Charterhouse Capital Partners, The Crowdfunding Forum and the UK government’s Intellectual Property Office.

 

In 2015, John jumped ship to Sydney where after a year working with Hill & Knowlton Strategies, he was hired by Dan to join The Factuary in the early stages of its inception in 2016. Working alongside Dan, John was instrumental in developing content for Telstra, SAP and Atlassian.

 

John joined Meta Strategy in January 2021, playing a major role in developing better customer understanding and content for NTT Ltd., Telstra Wholesale and Hostopia.

ExperienceJohn has over 20 years experience in marketing communications across technology, telecommunications and corporate markets.

InterestsJohn is a keen tennis player and also coaches his son's soccer team.
